Solar Values
Each card of a deck of playing cards has a solar value. The natural order of the suits is from hearts, clubs, diamonds, and spades. Based on this order, a solar value is assigned to the first heart (Ace) and continues to the last spade (King). The Joker has a solar value of zero.
Spot Values
The spot value of a card is the visible pips on the card, with the exception of the Face, Ace, and Joker cards. The spot values for the King, Queen, Jack, Ace, and Joker are 13, 12, 11, 1, and 1/4, respectively.

Clubs have a suit value of thirteen. Diamonds have a suit value of twenty-six. Spades have a suit value of thirty-nine. Suit values are also known as quarter values.
